Zack Meisel of Cleveland.com reported that Michael Brantley could be ready for Opening Day.
Let’s see how we got here:
March 17 : Brantley takes part in a minor league contest. He had two at-bats and threw out Mike Papi, at second base.
March 19: Brantley makes his Cactus League debut. He had another outfield assist and also hit a two-run home run.
Brantley sustained this injury as the 2015 season was coming to a close. During the Winter Meetings, Brantley’s timetable for a return was anywhere from June to August. There is no definite return for Brantley, but Opening Day is not ruled out.
Brantley is scheduled to return to the Indians lineup in Cactus League action on March 21.
Tribe play-by-play announcer Tom Hamilton has been getting fans excited the past couple days, saying he believes the All-Star left fielder will be ready in time.
The Tribe’s outfield looks a bit more promising than it did in February with the great spring that Tyler Naquin has been putting together, the addition of Marlon Byrd, and now this great news about Brantley’s speedy rehab.
