Columbus Crew SC announced earlier today that Ola Kamara was voted MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the 13th week of the 2016 MLS season. It is the first ‘Player of the Week’ honor of his MLS career, and the first of the season as well for the Crew SC.
The ‘Player of the Week’ award is selected each week of the regular season by a group of correspondents from the NASR. The group consists of print, television, radio and online media members that cover Major League Soccer.
Kamara earned the award following his first MLS hat trick May 28 against Real Salt Lake. Those three goals were his first three regular-season goals for the Crew SC.
This is the 51st time in MLS history that a Crew SC player has won the award.
Kamara joins current teammates Federico Higuain (3) and Ethan Finlay (1) in having earned the honor for Columbus.
The Crew SC will travel to Philadelphia to face the Union tomorrow, Wednesday, June 1 for a 7:00 p.m. ET kick off. Go Crew!
