The Columbus Blue Jackets looked to continue their excellent play in the month of November, as the Tampa Bay Lightning were waiting to greet Columbus with a loss.
The first period started off ideal for the Blue Jackets, as Alexander Wennberg started the game’s scoring with a Columbus Blue Jackets goal at the 3:46 mark of the period. Nick Foligno followed that up with a goal of his own at the 8:35 mark of the period off of a power play opportunity.
In the second period, Nikita Kucherov scored at the 8:33 mark to cut the deficit in half, but Josh Anderson retaliated at the 9:02 mark to push the score to 3-1. Jason Garrison made it 3-2 going to the break with a late goal in the period for the Lightning.
In the third period, Ondrej Pallat scored at the 3:37 mark to possibly give Tampa Bay some momentum. That was not the case, as Brandon Saad scored at the 4:34 mark to keep Columbus one step ahead. Cam Atkinson closed the door on the Lightning by scoring a goal at the 11:13 mark. The Blue Jackets would win by a final score of 5-3, as they improved to 11-5-3 on the season.
The Blue Jackets will try to keep their momentum going on Saturday against the Florida Panthers.
