Columbus Blue Jackets Select Pierre-Luc DuBois with 3rd Overall Pick in 2016 NHL Entry Draft

Buffalo, New York- The Columbus Blue Jackets selected Pierre-Luc DuBois with the third overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

It was also his 18th birthday.

DuBois told reporters, “Every time I met with (Columbus), I feel like it went really well.”

The 6-foot-2, 201-pound center from Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec scored 42 goals and dished out 57 assists in 62 games with Cape Breton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Blue Jackets open up the 2016-2017 NHL regular season on October 13 at home against the Boston Bruins.

Columbus finished 2015-2016 with a record of 34-40-8, placing 15th out of 16 teams in the Eastern Conference, but played better after starting the season 0-8.

The Blue Jackets are rich in young talent, as their AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters are fresh off of winning the Calder Cup and it appears bright days are on the horizon for hockey in Columbus.
