CSU improves to 3-5 as they defeat Western Michigan 85-62. This was the second consecutive game played at Quicken Loans Arena by the Vikings.
Western Michigan and Cleveland State are now tied 3-3 in their all-time series. The teams last played on March 18, 2015 with CSU earning an 86-57 win at WMU in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com tournament.
Team leaders for the Vikings include Bobby Word with 25 points, Demonte Flannigan with 20 points and 6 rebounds, and Rob Edwards with 15 points.
Flannigan seems to be taking advantage of the comeback opportunity presented to him coming off the multi-game rest due to heart and respiratory issues. Rob Edwards also recorded 2 steals, 2 assists and 5 rebounds.
Edwards continues to do it all for the Vikings, he has played some of the more consistent, productive basketball for the team thus far this season. However with that said, the turnovers continue to be a slight nagging issue for Edwards, but the season is still young. Some of those turnovers are due to forcing the ball into Flannigan in the paint perhaps because the team wants to get him his touches after being out for so long so he can adjust to the flow and the slow developing chemistry of the rest of the team.
The Vikings hit the road again to take on Purdue who is currently ranked in the AP top 20 and has been for some time. This will be one of the tougher challenges for the Vikings and will be lucky to keep this game close. Tip off is at 12 PM on December 10th. Go Vikings!
