UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – It was never close today on the campus of John Carroll University as Cleveland SC dominated Greater Binghamton 10-0 at Don Shula Stadium. Cleveland SC scored early and often and the visitors had absolutely no answers.
It took less then the time for the 6th City’ pregame smoke bomb to clear for Admir Suljevic to put Cleveland SC on top. Suljevic positioned himself perfectly with an assist from Ben Truax to put Cleveland SC ahead 1-0 in the 5th minute.
From there, Greater Binghamton managed to keep Cleveland SC out of the goal for the next 15 minutes, despite several close calls. It would be the longest stretch of the game for non scoring however, as once Cleveland SC scored again in the 20th minute, they were not stopped again. That goal came from 20 yards away as Mikey Derezic blasted one off a defender and into the back of the net. For Derezic, that was goal one of a hat trick day.
The goal from Derezic would begin an avalanche of scoring in what became a total blowout. Cleveland SC scored twice more before the half was over with strikes from the returning Antonio Manfut and Chris Cvecko to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the break.
With no one on the bench, Greater Binghamton ran out of gas early into the second half on a 86 degree today and the onslaught continued. Before it was over, Derezic would score two more times, Suljevic one more time, and also goals were had by backups Ian Larson and Mac Curran along with all game iron man Ben Truax.
The 10 goals show how dominant this team has the chance to be this season. You must keep in mind as well that Vinny Bell didn’t even play today, and he is one of the leaders of this squad. Not to mention how many close calls Jesse Marinaro had today as well. This team is loaded with talent and the sky is the limit for them.
