Cleveland Monsters Fall in Tight Loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 1-0

The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters were defeated by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza by a final score of 1-0. With the loss, Cleveland fell to 12-9-3-0 overall this season and with 27 points, currently sit alone in third place in the AHL’s North Division standings.

After a scoreless opening period, the Penguins claimed a 1-0 lead with a Ryan Haggerty power-play strike at 8:34 of the middle frame and emerged victorious by the same score following a goalless final stanza.

Cleveland goaltender Jean-Francois Berube fell to 8-7-2 this season despite a 19-save performance while Penguins net-minder John Muse improved to 1-2-0 this year thanks to a 32-save shutout showing in victory.
