Cleveland Indians Lose To Visiting Mariners 3-1, Despite Ramirez Homer

CLEVELAND, Ohio— The Cleveland Indians welcomed the Seattle Mariners to Progressive Field for a weekend three-game series. This is the last home stand before going out on a 10-game road trip beginning Monday in Detriot. However tonight the Indians would lose against the Mariners — and the team falls to 12-10 with tonight’s 3-1 loss

Here are three things we take away from tonight’s game:

3. Don’t run on Yan

Maybe Yan Gomes is trying to find his offensive groove but he can still throw runners out. In the fifth inning, the Mariners looked like they were in business but Yan Gomes didn’t let that happen as he threw out speedy Jarod Dyson, who entered today’s game first in the American league with eight steals.

Now Gomes has thrown out 7 of 13 runners attempting to steal on him this season thus far.

2. Bats stay silent

After a fun series with Houston, tonight was a different story on offense. The Tribe only recorded four hits, with two coming from Fransisco Lindor, a home run from Jose Ramirez and single from Abraham Almonte.

Also, the team went 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six on base.

1. Strong outing from Carrasco

Carlos Carrasco took the mound for the Indians and pitched great tonight. Carlos pitched eight total innings, giving up six hits, three runs and striking out seven. Although dropping his record to 2-2, Carlos was able to pound the strike zone tonight. In his pitch count, 70% were strikes.

The Mariners got on the board first in the fourth inning as Robinson Cano launched a two-run homer to center. Then in the sixth, Carrasco did give up another homer but this time was off the bat of Ben Gamel.

Next time Carlos Carrasco will pitch for the Tribe will be Wednesday in Detriot
