2017 Cleveland Browns Offensive Overview: Who’s Locked in For Starting Jobs? What Spots Are Up for Grabs?

Offensive Line

Joe Thomas and Joel Bitonio will anchor the left side of the line once again, with Bitonio earning $51.2 million in a contract extension in March. Thomas has yet to miss a snap in his career, and made his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl last year. The front office invested heavily in offensive linemen, giving center JC Tretter $16.7 million over three years, and signing right guard Kevin Zeitler to a five year contract worth $60 million.

Two players will battle for the right tackle position: Shon Coleman and Cameron Erving. Coleman played in seven games as a rookie, with the Browns rushing for over 150 yards in both games he played at right tackle. Erving is hoping for one final chance from the Browns.

John Greco and Spencer Drango will be key reserves; Greco has 66 starts for Cleveland. Center Marcus Martin and tackle Matt McCants are waiver wire pickups, and Roderick Johnson was selected in the fifth round. Other linemen in camp include Anthony Fabiano, Gabe Ikard, Austin Reiter, and Zach Sterup, who all have experience in Cleveland.

Prediction: Thomas, Bitonio, Tretter, Zeitler, and Coleman across the line. Erving is cut before the season starts, with Greco’s versatility keeping him on the roster. Drango, McCants and Roderick Johnson fill out the nine-man group.
