If you were on social media for even five minutes last night, you got a pretty good idea of how Cleveland Browns fans felt about their draft. When Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was drafted with the top pick, fans either went to Twitter to express their happiness or disgust with the selection of the former Heisman Trophy winner. But the reactions weren’t just made by fans.
Cleveland Browns legend Jim Brown didn’t seem too thrilled about the Mayfield pick when asked by TMZSports.com last night. Brown, who was leaving the draft at the time, was asked his thoughts on Mayfield being the guy.
“No comment,” Brown told TMZ Sports.
It’s understandable why Brown would be frustrated. The Hall Of Fame running back was vouching for the Browns to take Penn State running back Saquon Barkley first overall. As soon as Cleveland took Mayfield, the New York Giants wasted no time snatching Barkley up with the second pick.
It might not necessarily mean that Brown doesn’t like Mayfield as Cleveland’s chosen quarterback, however.
Just days prior to the draft, Brown was asked by TMZ Sports if he had a preferred choice of the top prospects. He told them that there were about four guys and he didn’t really know which one he would take over the others.
