Defensive Line: The Brown’s 2015 defense was one the highest paid in the league and one of the worst in every statistical category. Injuries and poor coaching can be the major culprits for the lack of performance by the defense. It was apparent to anyone watching that the browns did not have a great defensive line play.
Whether it was the underwhelming performance from last year’s top pick Danny Shelton, or the injuries to veterans like Armanty Bryant, Desmond Bryant, and John Hughes, the defensive line was not able to effectively stop the run and pressure the quarterback.
This year’s Draft is rich in defensive line talent and the browns should use some of their eleven draft picks to shore up their defensive line. Joey Bosa (Ohio St.) is a top prospect and will likely require the Browns to prioritize him over the need for a QB at #2. Robert Nkemdiche (Mississippi), Ashawn Robinson (Alabama), and Noah Spence (Eastern Ky) are all good potential options for the Browns to use their 32nd pick, and have shown all of the ability to make an immediate impact on the defensive line.
The Cleveland Browns are in complete rebuilding mode as a franchise, and have stated repeatedly that they are going to build through the draft. The fan base for this beloved franchise is hungry for a winner, and is weary from the recent turbulence.
The Browns will not go from first to worst in 2016 Season, but the 2016 Draft will be the most important draft for future of the franchise….again.
