Wide Receiver: Despite the belief of the previous regime, the vertical passing game is vital to the success of any o]ffense. The NFL has seen an explosion of offense and wide receivers are now more important than ever. The Browns current stable of wide receivers are under sized and lack the speed to creation separation.
Obviously the elephant in the room is the fate of Josh Gordon, if the NFL were to reinstate the troubled wide receiver it would create an attractive option for Coach Hue Jackson’s offense. Unfortunately, if the browns are looking for an elite receiver in the draft they are about 2 years too late. This year’s draft does not have the elite receivers of years past.
However there are some talented wide receivers to be had; Will Fuller (Notre Dame), Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss), and Josh Doctson (TCU) are the top rated receivers according to NFL.com. Over the last few years the decision makers in the Browns seem to be allergic to using a high draft pick on an elite Wide receiver, hopefully the new decision makers do not suffer from that particular ailment.
