Each week I will break down a potential breakout player for the Browns this upcoming season! This week’s addition is on free agent linebacker Devin Bush. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 with the tenth overall pick, Bush had a lot to live up too.
During his four seasons with the Steelers, he had 286 total tackles, 4 sacks, and two interceptions. Coming out of the University of Michigan, Bush was a stud linebacker for the Wolverines coming out of college and was considered one of the best in his class. Watching tape of Bush, it is clear that he excels in the run and pass games of a defense. He is a stout defender who tackles well but struggles against larger linemen.
Devin Bush is another great addition for Cleveland. Another “thumper” who can run. Can play tackle to tackle and sideline to sideline. #Browns pic.twitter.com/GbVqpsRMIl

After suffering an ACL tear against the Browns in week six of the 2020 season Bush’s career took a turn. His 5th-year option was not picked up by the Steelers and he became an unrestricted free agent after the 2022 season. During the offseason, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks and played in thirteen games primarily as a special teams player.
Bush signed a one-year contract with the Browns this offseason and this was a great move according to many Browns fans who remember when Bush’s father Devin Bush Sr. played for the team back in the early 2000’s. Under the leadership of Jim Schwartz and LB’s coach Jason Tarver, Bush should be in for a great off-season. The tools that he brings to the room can really impact them this off-season and it can help the Browns bolster that front seven!
