The Cleveland Charge spent a few days in Las Vegas in the NBAs AT&T Winter showcase at Mandalay Bay. The showcase is an event the NBA created to give front office people a look at the young players in the league.
As an incentive, the winning team would receive $100,000. The eight team format had the #6 seeded Charge battling the third seed College Park Skyhawks (Atlanta’s G League team) in round 1.
Charge v Skyhawks
The Charge used Isaiah Mobley’s near triple double (30 points, 8 assists, 12 boards) to win the first game, 120-104. Guard Sharife Cooper dumped in 25 with 7 shares and Mamadi Diakite pumped in 25 to lead the Charge to a match up with Windy City Bulls in the semifinal game.
Charge v Bulls
The semifinal game got to the point where the first to 95 points would win. The Charge scored 94 points first but two chances late wouldn’t drop. The Windy City Bulls found new life and defeated the Charge with a late bucket from the top of the key.
