The Chardon Hilltoppers Girls Lacrosse team advanced to the OHSAA Regional Title game with a 13-7 victory over the Chagrin Falls Tigers on Tuesday night.
“This (playoff) rematch with Chagrin continues to happen,” said Chardon Head Coach Alison Platz.“I am very proud of our team. There are times when Chagrin started to creep back up, but we fought back, and in the past we haven’t been able to do that. As a team, we have stressed team play the entire season, and it’s starting to click at the right time.”

Chardon took a 7-3 halftime lead as Grace Darone, Stella Parrish, and Payton Platz all had two goals in the first half and junior defender, Skylar Duvall-Lewis, also scored a goal.
As Coach Platz mentioned, the Tigers do not give up easily. Although the Hilltoppers had a four goal lead heading into the second half, the Tigers did not quit.
After halftime, the Tigers tightened up their defense and with 11:38 left in the game Chagrin got to within two goals at 8-6 when Bailey Corto scored her third goal of the game.
After the two teams traded goals, the Hilltoppers regained the momentum and went on to defeat the Tigers 13-7.
In the second half the Hilltoppers were led by sophomore Elle Deszczykiewicz who scored three goals and senior Grace Darone who added two more to get a Texas Hat Trick (4 goals) for the game.
“They (Chagrin Falls) are completely deserving, they put in the work all season and they play a harder schedule than we do in order to work and continue to improve toward the playoffs,” said Coach Platz. “So I have to congratulate them for not being afraid to do that.”
The Hilltoppers will play Hathaway Brown for the OHSAA Regional Title on Thursday at Don Shula Stadium on the campus of John Caroll University.
