The Tigers would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the first when Kyle Zaluski sent Jake Amendola home on a sac fly to center. Despite getting no hits, Chagrin Falls would make it a 4-0 game thanks to an error and getting walked three times in the third.
Chagrin would break the no-hit bid when Andrew Kwasny doubled to left field. Kwasny would then advance to third off of Sam Dolan’s single. Then Jake Amendola send a grounder up the middle to center field for a 2-run single to extend their lead to 6-0.
“Like I say, always want to pressure the pitcher and start off fast.” Chagrin Falls Manager Mike Sweeney said. “We were patient and just wanted to wait until {Ravenna pitcher Andy Prentice} threw for strikes.
“I was just trying to put the ball in play.” Amendola said. “The pitcher we were facing had some great stuff and I found what I liked and I hit it.”
But what kept Ravenna off balance was they had to face Erik Wilson, who was dominant once again. His final line was a complete five innings, giving up three hits and striking out four.
“It’s been the model all year.” Wilson said. “I got the confidence that my defense will back me up like they always do.”
“It’s great especially that’s how we’re supposed to play the game.” Wilson added to his team giving him support.
