Group Effort
The Cavaliers are down a number of would be key contributors, but that hasn’t been an excuse for a team that only had one win. Cavaliers guard Jordan Clarkson knew this team could do it, “It feels good. We just came in there and played with a lot of energy… Everybody had to step up tonight and really go out there and play hard.”
The mantra “next man up” is often used for teams in similar situations as the one the Cavs find themselves in, and finally on Tuesday that mantra became a reality. Five Cavaliers scored in double figures Tuesday night, lead by Clarkson (24), but more impressively they held an opponent under 100 points for the third straight game at home. The defense held the Hornets to .347 (33-95) shooting from the field and .195 (8-41) from deep, both are season lows.
Scoring 67 points in a half is very impressive, it doesn’t matter who you are. Although it was a bit more surprising to see a struggling, yet improving Cavaliers team score 67 points in the first half. The Cavs were playing with good energy on the offensive end, as they were taking good shots within the flow of the offense. While the bench is usually known as Jordan Clarkson’s time to shine, Clarkson was still able to get his shots as the offense was gelling as a whole, rather than just a few individuals.
