Heading into Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers received nine days off.
It was the most downtime LeBron has had between Playoff games in his career.
The question of rust vs. rest and coming into a hostile environment at TD Garden was talked about for days leading up to the game.
It was answered within minutes of the tip-off.
Here are nine takeaways for the nine days of rest the Cavs had prior to 117-104 win.
1.LeBron Putting on MVP Candidacy
LeBron scored 38 points in the win and has now scored 30 or more in 8 of 9 Playoff games in 2017.
He’s averaging 34.7 points per game in the Playoffs.
In 2008-2009, he averaged 35.3 ppg, but that was the year the Cavs were knocked out in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Orlando Magic.
There’s still a long way to go, but LeBron is on pace to break his postseason career high for total points scored (697) which occurred in 2011-2012 with the Heat.
The only problem is if the Cavs keep sweeping, he won’t have enough games to pull it off.
