LAS VEGAS– In losing LeBron James, the Cavaliers odds to do well in the 2018-19 regular season were bound to take a bit of dive.
Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook released the over/under odds for every team in the league on Monday morning, and set the Cavs’ over/under win total at 30.5 games. That is the sixth-worst over/under in the NBA, and the fourth-worst in the Eastern Conference.
It’s certainly possible that this win total could be selling the Cavs short. After all, they aren’t trying to actively tank. It also helps that they play in the weaker of the two conferences, and that they still have a bona fide All-Star in Kevin Love– basically, they in a better position than they were the first time James left Cleveland. The following year, they went on to win just 19 games. They increased their total wins in each of the following three years without James to 21, 24 and 33 wins, respectively, before his return in 2014.
What do you think of the over/under numbers for the Cavs and the rest of the NBA?
