LeBron James and Kobe Bryant squared off for the last time of their careers on Thursday night in Los Angeles, as the Cavs faced the Lakers at Staples Center.
Kobe looked a few years younger in the game, making his trademark jumpers seem easy, but the Cavs were too much for the Lakers, cruising to a 120-108 victory.
Kevin Love got the night off, which meant Channing Frye would start at power forward, and Frye made the most of the opportunity.
The sharp-shooter was perfect on his first four shots from beyond the arc and led all scoring in the first half with 16 points.
The Cavs would lead Los Angeles 64-55 at halftime.
Bryant showed flashes of his glory days, hitting seven-of-ten shots in the first half to lead the Lakers with 15 points.
The Cavs maintained control in the third quarter, leading 95-82 after three.
The Lakers did not lay down, but Cleveland closed it out strong to win by 12.
LeBron finished with 24 points.
Frye scored a season-high 21 points.
J.R. Smith scored 17 points.
Tristan Thompson posted a double-double with 14 rebounds.
Kyrie Irving scored 26 points and dished out nine assists.
Kobe’s last game vs. LeBron was one of his best shooting nights of the season, as the Black Mamba made 11-of-16 shots for 26 points, tied for the most in the game with Irving.
The Cavs improve to 46-18 with the win and are off until Sunday afternoon, when they play the Clippers at 3:30 PM ET.
