The Cavs had a tough battle down in Atlanta in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals against the Hawks on Friday night.
The Cavs would win 121-108 to take a 3-0 lead in the series, but it wasn’t easy.
It was a rare off-night for LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, who struggled early before turning it on in the fourth quarter, but an unlikely hero, Channing Frye stepped up, scoring 27 points off the bench.
James scored just 14 points in the first three quarters, while Irving only had 12 points prior to the fourth.
They both finished with 24 on the night.
It’s also worth noting that 11 of Frye’s 27 points came in the fourth quarter.
He shot 10-for-13 from the field on the night, hitting 7-of-9 three-point attempts.
Here are some of the best plays from the Frye-Light Reel of Frye-Day night.
Frye scored nine points in the first half, including this beautiful three-pointer.
Frye would put up seven more points in the third quarter, including yet another gorgeous three from the corner.
Channing decided to show the fans in Atlanta he can do more than just drain threes, as he slammed down a vicious dunk late in the third quarter.
He got back to his bread and butter to start the fourth quarter knocking down another triple…
Frye would throw down another jam on the fast break.
It’s safe to say Cavs fans are over the Anderson Varejao trade after a performance like that.
Frye’s career-high was 33 points back in 2011 as a member of the Phoenix Suns, but Game 3 was the most he has scored in a Cavalier uniform, and the most points he has scored in a game since January 2014.
Frye-Day night’s win shows once again that the Cavs are much deeper than just their Big 3.
