Cavs fall apart in second half against Pacers after 22-point lead; three takeaways

3. So you’re saying there’s a chance

Basically all of the struggles that plagued the Cavs during the third quarter still gave them problems in the fourth. But despite it all, they still had a chance to win the ball game.

With 3:57 left in the game, the Cavs led the Pacers by six, 95-89. They wouldn’t score for the rest of the night. The Pacers went ahead for good after a 3-pointer from Victor Oladipo with 2:10 remaining.

With five seconds left in the game, Kevin Love got a rebound with the Cavs down, 96-95. After a timeout, LeBron James got the ball but stepped out of bounds driving to the basket on what could have been the go-ahead bucket.

Following that play, the Cavs fouled Darren Collison. He missed his first shot but made the second, giving the Cavs one final chance to head home with a win, As Kevin Love threw a Hail Mary inbounds pass to James with 1.4 seconds to go. It was reminiscent of the buzzer beater against the Wizards a year ago.

James caught the ball off of the right wing, but the shot wouldn’t fall.

Friday night was the ultimate example of a tale of two halves. It’s a tough loss that the Cavs will have two days to bounce back from before the Warriors come to town on Monday.
