The Cavaliers got off to the best possible start from behind the arc on Tuesday night, hitting nine 3s in the first quarter alone and tying an NBA season-high.
With around six minutes to go in the second quarter, they hit their 10th 3 of the game, making it their 17th straight game of hitting at least that many and setting a franchise record.
“I just think it’s important to have the right mix of guys on the floor at the same time, and that’s what we’ve been able to find as coaches and as players,” head coach Tyronn Lue said. “We found the right pieces on the floor that go with each other. And that kind of opens up 3-point shots for our guys and spacing for other guys, so it’s a good match.”

In the third quarter with just under eight minutes to go, J.R. Smith hit his first 3 of the game, meaning all five Cleveland starters hit at least one shot from deep.
The Cavs ended the evening with 20 3-pointers, a season-high. They were also incredibly efficient in doing so, going .526 from downtown. It’s just the fifth time in franchise history that the Cavs have connected on 20 or more 3s.
Cleveland was led by none other than Kyle Korver from deep, who finished with a season-high six 3-pointers.
“Three-point shooting is a big part of this team, it’s a big part of what makes this team hard to guard, surrounding LeBron with shooters,” Korver said. “So it was great to see tonight everyone finally clicking and we made a lot of shots.”
