1. The King’s new record
With 5:59 remaining in the first quarter, LeBron James hit a major milestone. James blew by New Orleans’ Solomon Hill to throw down the two-handed slam, recording his 10th and 11th points of the night to make Friday’s contest the 867th straight game in which he has scored 10 or more points.
James passed Michael Jordan, who set the record in 2001. To give full perspective on James’ consistency over the last 11 years, the last time he scored under 10 points in a regular season game was Jan. 5, 2007, when he put up just eight points against the Milwaukee Bucks on the road.
At the 4:49 mark, the Cavs stopped the game to acknowledge James’ accomplishment and to give him the game ball:

James said the ball is going to go in his personal trophy case, but that the moment was bigger than just him.
“It’s a good moment, a special moment, for not only myself, but for my family and for so many kids that look up to me for inspiration– to know that you can actually go out there and do it,” James said.
“Knowing where I come from and growing up 35, 30 minutes south of here, the statistics are just always stacked up against you. For me to be in this position today, being able to accomplish something that a lot of people never thought would happen again, or be able to break a record like that, it means a lot for me and it means more to the youth that kind of need hope.”
LeBron says that breaking MJ’s record of 866 consecutive games of 10+ points is “a good moment and special moment not only for myself, but for my family, and for so many kids who look up to me.” Also says the game ball is going in his trophy case. pic.twitter.com/cOLTPEDf1c
