The Cavs hosted the Washington Wizards on Friday night, looking to avenge a blowout loss from Sunday afternoon, the last time the two teams met.
LeBron James rested in Sunday’s game. Kevin Love got the night off on Friday.
The whole team looked well-rested after three days off and the Cavaliers were in control all night, crushing the Wizards 108-83.
Cleveland made it clear from the start of the game they were not going to allow the Wizards to embarrass them again, as the Cavs jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first seven minutes.
LeBron grabbed two steals leading to fastbreak dunks on back-to-back possessions, putting up four quick points in about ten seconds.
The Cavs would stay in front for the rest of the first quarter, leading 27-23 heading into the second.
Washington wouldn’t go away early in the second quarter, but the Cavs picked it up in the closing minutes of the half. LeBron and Kyrie Irving knocked down consecutive three pointers to stretch the lead to 15 with 2:52 left in the half.
Timofey Mozgov and Matthew Dellavedova came up big in the first half. Mozgov, who made his second start in a row, scored ten points, slamming home four thunderous dunks in the half.
Delly scored ten in the half, as well, knocking down two three-pointers.
The Cavs would lead at halftime 59-42.
Irving led the Cavs with 13 points at the half, while John Wall scored 15 for Washington.
The Cavs continued to dominate in the third quarter, as Irving knocked down a pair of threes on consecutive possessions, Mozgov added four more points to his total, and Cleveland entered the fourth quarter leading 83-63.
The fourth quarter was more of the same and the Cavs second unit closed out the game to seal the victory 108-83.
LeBron finished close to a triple-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
Irving scored a game-high 21 points and dished out eight assists.
Mozgov scored 14 points. It was his second-highest scoring game of the season.
Wall led the Wizards with 17 points. It was his lowest-scoring game of the four meetings with the Cavs in 2015-2016.
The Cavs improve to 43-17 on the season with the win and are back at it again on Saturday night at Quicken Loans Arena when the Boston Celtics (38-25) come to town, riding a five-game win-streak.
Cleveland fell to Boston the last time the two teams met at the Q, as Avery Bradley knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Celtics to victory.
