The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to sign Jeff Green to a one-year, $2.3 Mil. deal, worth the league minimum, as first reported by Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
According to Windhorst, LeBron James had multiple conversations with Green prior to the signing.
Green averaged 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 2016-17 with the Orlando Magic and the 30-year-old will be expected to serve as a backup small forward/power forward.
Cleveland has been searching for partners to unload Channing Frye’s contract this offseason and it’s likely Green would be next in line for minutes behind Kevin Love in the rotation.
The Cavs are also reportedly front runners in the hunt to sign 37-year-old shooting guard Jamal Crawford.
