CHICAGO– The Cleveland Cavaliers will have the No. 8 pick in the the 2018 NBA Draft.
The Cavaliers were in the draft lottery in the first place because of the Kyrie Irving trade last summer in which they acquired the Brooklyn Nets’ first round pick from the Boston Celtics in the deal.
Nick Gilbert, son of Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, was the Cavs’ representative on-stage donning his signature bow tie and glasses. The bow tie was made with a piece of wood from the Cavs’ 2016 championship court.
The Nets finished with the eighth worst record in the league this season (28-54), and the Cavs had a 2.8 percent chance of winning the top pick as a result. The Phoenix Suns will have the No. 1 pick.
