Cavaliers top Bulls 119-112 after gaining first lead in second half; three takeaways

3. We may be on to something here

The Cavs had by far their best shooting night this season against the Bulls, particularly from deep. They hit 16 three-pointers as a team, holding their own with the Bulls who hit 17.

With Derrick Rose out of the lineup, and with Wade now in the second unit, the first group was much better at spreading the floor with J.R. Smith getting some of his usual looks, coupled with James, Kevin Love, and Jae Crowder.

Since Tristan Thompson started, it was also huge to have Channing Frye and Kyle Korver getting significant looks and minutes. Even Wade seemed to adapt to his new role, scoring 11 points, his most in a single game this season.

All in all, the Cavs didn’t hit as many threes as fans were used to last year tonight, but it was still a step in the right direction.

Lue said he was going to stick with these rotations for at least the next two games, and we can’t really blame him.
