Cavaliers Swap Draft Picks with Portland Trail Blazers

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced a move Friday, swapping their own upcoming 2017 first round draft pick with the Trail Blazers for the 2018 first rounder they already sent to Portland last year.

This deal is the first step of making the Kyle Korver trade official, as the Cavs are now able to move their 2019 first round pick along with Mike Dunleavy and Mo Williams.

The Cavs would not have been able to make that trade without a first round pick from 2018 because of league rules forbidding teams from trading consecutive first round picks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired their own 2018 first round draft pick from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for the Cavaliers’ 2017 first round draft pick (traded to Portland on February 18, 2016), General Manager David Griffin announced tonight from Cleveland Clinic Courts.
