CLEVELAND – The Cavaliers preseason struggles continued Thursday night at home against Indiana, as the wine and gold lost to the Indiana Pacers 107-85 to fall to 0-5 in the preseason.
LeBron James received a night off to rest for the second game in a row and the Cavs are eyeing a Kevin Love return for Sunday in Toronto.
The Cavs only managed to put up 16 points in the first quarter, six of which came from Anderson Varejao who was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field in the first quarter.
Varejao went on to finish the game with nine points and seven rebounds on 4-of-4 shooting.
Shooting guard J.R. Smith returned after missing two games in a row and went 4-for-8 from the field to score 10 points and also dished out five assists.
Timofey Mozgov was back in the lineup as well and put up 16 points grabbing six rebounds.
Pacers small forward Paul George looked poised to make a big comeback from his gruesome injury that kept him out last season, and contributed 17 points and eight rebounds in the winning effort for Indiana.
The Cavs have the next two nights off and travel to Toronto to take on the Raptors Sunday at 6 pm.
