Cavaliers Make Deal with 76’ers for Rights to Forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum

The Cavaliers today made a deal with the Philadelphia 76’ers for the right to forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum, in exchange the team dealt center Sasha Kaun and cash considerations.

The trade also creates a traded player exception for the Cavaliers in the amount of Kaun’s salary.

Kaun signed as a free agent with the Cavaliers on September 9, 2015 and appeared in 25 games for Cleveland during the 2015-16 season. The native of Russia was the 56th overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder (then Seattle SuperSonics) and had his rights traded to the Cavs on draft night.

Maduabum last played for the Finnish Korisliiga team Tampereen Pyrintö. He has also spent time in the D-League with the Bakersfield Jam (2010-11, 2011-12) and Fort Wayne Mad Ants (2014-15).

Maduabum was originally drafted 56th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2011 NBA Draft before his rights were traded to the Denver Nuggets.
