2. Play with pace
Everyone from Tyronn Lue to LeBron James has lamented the Cavs’ level of conditioning. After the game against Boston on Tuesday, Lue said that he felt the Cavaliers settled in and played a half-court game rather than getting up and down the floor with pace.
Since then, the team has put in extra VersaClimber sessions and had practice on Thursday. But the first step to getting into basketball shape is playing as hard as they can, even if it’s just at six or seven minutes at a time and then coming out. It will likely take a couple of weeks to get into full shape, but especially considering the Greek Freak’s prowess in the open court, the Cavs better be ready for a full court game on Friday night.
“Their gonna play the right way because [Milwaukee head coach Jason] Kidd played the right way,” James said on Thursday. “So that’s the only way he knows how to preach is to play the right way and play hard. They have so many guys that are very dynamic with their games, that can do multiple things. We should look forward to the challenge.”
