2. Gomes Getting Hot
The Indians catcher put the bat on the ball at the right time, golfing out a three-run homer to put the game away in the 8th inning to give the Tribe a commanding 6-0 lead.
In his last 14 games Gomes is hitting .378 with a homer, 4 RBI and three doubles. If there’s a position on the team that the club could really use a boost it’s the catcher spot, and having him get back to the form of two seasons ago would be a monster key.
The catcher on the season is now hitting .239, and if you consider two weeks ago today he was hitting just .182, it’s a sight for sore eyes to see the catcher get going at the plate and raise his average in two weeks 57 points.
