1. Cool Carlos
Carlos Carrasco has been the best starting pitcher on the roster this season thus far for the Indians, and he showed that again on Tuesday, throwing seven shutout innings not allowing a run with nine K’s in the runaway 6-0 win.
His numbers do nothing but impress, as now sitting at 4-2 he lowers his ERA to 1.86, and Tuesday night he threw 97 pitches, 64 of which were strikes.
Carrasco’s ERA on the road is 1.83, the second lowest road ERA in the big leagues this season, and teams are hitting just .179 against him when he takes the ball away from Progressive Field.
While his fastball was good again on Tuesday, his off-speed was even better, and it seemed most of his seven strikeouts came on his off-speed pitches.
On the road in 2017 thus far he’s thrown 26.2 innings, striking out 27 batters to just three walks, and he’s allowed only 15 hits as well.
With Corey Kluber on the shelf, Carrasco has taken over as the ace of the staff for now, and it’s a welcome sight to Indians fans.
