The Captains added another run in the first when Joe Lampe drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-0.

In the bottom of the second, the Captains scored when Jake Fox doubled to drive in two runs and make the score 5-0.

Then Chase DeLauter singled to drive in a run to make the score 6-0.

Still in the bottom of the second inning, the Captains added a run on an RBI single by Joe Lampe.

In addition, they also added two more runs on an RBI Single by Isiah Greene to take a 9-0 lead.

In the third inning, the Captains scored on a play you will not see often at the professional level of baseball.

Tyrese Turner scored the Captains 10th run of the game on a dropped third strike.

Yes, that is not a typo.

Tyrese Turner was at the plate in the third inning. He swung and missed and the Lugnuts catcher dropped the ball.  Since it was strike three and the catcher dropped the ball, the catcher needed to pick up the ball and throw to first to get the out.

The catcher picked up the ball and threw it over the first baseman’s head.

The ball then skipped by the second baseman who was backing up the play.

The ball was thrown with enough velocity that after it got by the second baseman, the ball went all the way to the right field corner. Once the ball got by the second baseman, Turner did not stop until he scored the run sliding into home plate.

The Captains would score three more runs for the game.
