Interestingly, this is not the first time in the last decade that McKinley has defeated Green 28-27. In fact, McKinley also defeated Green by the same score in a 2015 matchup.
With the victory, it is highly likely that Canton McKinley will now take over the top spot in OHSAA Region One (Division I) as St. Edward lost to Massillon, 15-13.
McKinley next has a week six matchup with Hoover, while Green will face Glen Oak.
