Cleveland Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor continues to impress the Browns coaches and staff at training camp. Just a few days ago, Pryor made an unbelievable diving catch.
Just a year ago, the former quarterback was working extremely hard to craft and learn his new position. Head coach Hue Jackson talked about his ability and how he has been doing a fantastic job at the wide receiver position.
I think all of that is a work in progress for him, Jackson told reporters. “He made the transition from quarterback to receiver, but I think he’s done an outstanding job. We’ve moved him from one side of receiver to another side so again, he’s in another transition. He’s handled it extremely well. I’m very proud of what he’s doing. We’ve had three practices and he was able to make some plays today, but we have to continue to grow everywhere on our football team to continue to get better.
Getting a rapport going with potential starting quarterback Robert Griffin III is huge. The team already has a roster full of wide receivers and seeing splash plays from Pryor will only help him obtain a roster spot.
The play in training camp was supposedly a 50 yard gain and a solid diving catch by Pryor. At that moment, fans were not allowed to record the plays. This was later confirmed by Pryor and the media in a post practice press conference.
He was asked, what kind of excitement did he show after making a diving catch during Sunday’s practice.
Yeah, that was my first. There were a bunch of good balls thrown to me in camp so far but we haven’t connected. I caught a couple, but it was out of bounds or something happened. I like to run deep, run past guys so it is what it is. It’s football. I’m an aggressive guy. I like to get the juices flowing. I like to get the team up so big play let’s make it a big deal.
He talked about the transition from quarterback to wide receiver and his development thus far.
It’s a lot different. It’s a lot different. I’ll give grace to God. Definitely couldn’t do it without him. Couldn’t do it without the support of the fans, absolutely. People tweeting me and messaging me and direct messages. Some of you guys help me out. I read some of the clips, and I appreciate you guys being nice. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes you get feisty a little bit and it turns you on and you want to do better because of some of the critics. At the same time, nobody is a harder critic than me. I critique myself and I take this very serious. I’m very excited. This game is the love of my life. It goes God, my son, football in that order so I’m looking forward to playing.
This season will be an exciting one if Pryor makes the 53-man roster. We will have to see, but if he continues to impress the coaches and the Browns staff, he just might see some solid playing time.
