A third-round pick out of USC, Kessler started eight games in the 2016 campaign for the Browns and failed to win a single game. That season, he threw for six touchdowns and two interceptions, completing 65.6% of his passes for 1,380 yards. However, Kessler found himself as the third-string quarterback on the roster in 2017 playing behind rookie DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan.
With the trade of Kessler on Wednesday, the Browns have now parted ways with their last two rookie quarterbacks. They hold the first and fourth overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft next month and surely will pick another signal-caller, this time in the first-round.
