Out with the old, in with the new.
Today has already been a busy day for the Cleveland Browns, who early this morning cut former first-round pick Joe Haden. They have now parted ways with two first-round picks. reportedly traded offensive lineman Cam Erving. Erving was a 2015 first-round pick by the Browns, selected 19th overall.
Per numerous reports, the Browns have traded offensive lineman Cam Erving to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2018 5th-round draft selection. Erving was a 2015 first-round pick by the Browns, selected 19th overall. Erving was also the last first-round pick of the Mike Pettine-Ray Farmar era in Cleveland, as the team has all but officially cleaned out the old regime’s roster. The only first-round pick from the old regime that remains is defensive lineman Danny Shelton.

Erving has appeared in 29 games for the Browns and 17 of those have been starts for the team. He has spent time at left tackle and his natural position of center with the team, the latter the position that he played at Florida State. No matter where the Browns have placed him on the line, he has struggled to keep pass-rushers from getting past him and into the backfield. After a position battle with Shon Coleman that has clearly gone Coleman’s way, Erving must now try to reset and prove his worth in Kansas City with the Chiefs.
