CLEVELAND — Over the last few years Cleveland Browns primetime games have become almost as rare as Cleveland Browns wins.
In 2018 though, the Browns are getting multiple of both.
On Thursday, the NFL announced a series of flex changes to the upcoming schedule and revealed several start times for those late season Saturday matchups. Of those, the Browns learned they will be playing their Week 15 matchup with the Denver Broncos at 8:20 pm on Saturday, Dec. 15. The game will be aired on the NFL Network.
That contest will be Cleveland’s second primetime game of the season. In Week Three, the Browns hosted a Thursday night game against the Jets. Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield entered that game in the second quarter and led the Browns to a comeback victory 21-17. Barring injury, that Week 15 meeting with Demver will be Mayfield’s first-career primetime start.
This marks the first time since 2015 that the Browns will play two primetime games in a single season. That season they went 0-2 under the lights, losing to division foes Cincinnati and Cleveland. They are 8-16 all time in road night games.
