The Browns are adding depth to their receiving corps with the signing of former Baltimore Raven’s 2015 first-round pick Breshad Perriman. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news just before noon.
With Rashad Higgins out 2-4 weeks with a knee injury and Derrick Willies breaking his collarbone, it was crucial that the Browns sign another receiver.
Perriman has had a rough start to his career. The former first-rounder missed the entire 2015 season with a knee injury but was able to have a solid sophomore year. In 2016 he came back to have 33 receptions, for 499 yards and three touchdowns but couldn’t build off his success. Perriman dealt with another injury in 2017 and was only able to contribute 10 receptions for 77 yards in 11 games.
The combination of injuries, lack of production and order on the depth chart made the Ravens release Perriman in September.
