Browns Rumored To Make Changes, But Where Will The Moves Be Made?

As the Cleveland Browns return home from London, there are many rumors circling around the team. After consecutive 0-8 starts in back-to-back seasons, the team is looking to make moves wherever they see fit.

That begs the question everyone wants to ask: Where are the Browns going to make changes?

Cleveland is lacking in nearly every area, with their offense being nonexistent in most contests and their coaching staff making confusing decisions weekly. Heck, the only good thing to rave about this team is the defense, who gets left out to dry for three-fourths of the game due to a failure to score points consistently. With all of that brings the question marks that surround Hue Jackson and company.

Jackson is 1-23 and is failing to gain any support from fans at this point, though he claims that he still has the backing of Jimmy and Dee Haslam. He has not only been put in a situation where he needs to create the entirety of his talent, but he also must work with a front office that knows more about baseball than football. Jackson has also been reportedly overruled on drafting quarterbacks early in the last two drafts by the front office led by Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta, leading everyone to wonder how cohesive the front office in Cleveland really is and if everyone truly is on the same page.

That’s downright ridiculous. Things like that invoke change. But where?

According to a report by Ian Rapaport, the Browns are going to make personnel changes. The report doesn’t say whose job is safe and whose isn’t but it does mention that none of the personnel moves will involve firing Hue Jackson. Take that for what it’s worth, as Jimmy Haslam is not the most patient man in town. But if Hue is safe for now, that means the next move will be helping him finally produce wins. That means acquiring proven talent.

The moves the Browns should make start at the wide receiver position, as there are a few options there. The Indianapolis Colts are looking to move T.Y. Hilton for the price of a second-round pick. The Browns have a slew of picks, including the Houston Texans’ second-round pick acquired in the Brock Osweiler trade. What would be a better move than to acquire a top-notch wide-out for a pick that has no guarantee will be a starter?

If the Browns aren’t willing to make the move for Hilton or want to make two moves (crazy, I know), they can scoop a disgruntled Martavis Bryant from the Pittsburgh Steelers and slide the Steelers a fifth or sixth-round pick. In the span of a week, the Browns would have an actual wideout corps by two proven guys. It makes sense and with both guys longing for a change of scenery, you will get two guys looking to make a point with their new team.

In reality, this is a huge bye week for the Browns front office. Make a move, save your job. Stay idle and watch, then wonder where your job security sits at with the boss.
