4) Greg Robinson Revival
When the Browns signed left tackle Greg Robinson back in June, no one knew what to expect. The former second overall pick in 2014 fizzled out with the Rams to the point where they traded him to the Lions for a sixth-round pick. Things didn’t go so well for him in Detroit either as he was ultimately waived last November.
However, since taking over for rookie Desmond Harrison in Week Nine, Robinson has held his own at the extremely important left tackle position in fact over that span he was only one of five qualifying tackles to not yield a QB pressure according to Pro Football Focus.
That said, it wasn’t like he was being tested much against a miserable Chiefs’ defense, the league worst Falcons’ defense or the struggling Bengals defense a week ago. Houston was supposed to be the true test and if so, I’d say he passed. Robinson wasn’t perfect – his costly holding call in the third quarter took a touchdown off the board. But despite giving up a few pressures, Robinson and his offensive line-mates kept Mayfield clean throughout the day. No, Robinson isn’t quite Joe Thomas, but for now he’s proving he can hold down the fort.
