The Browns had some disturbing off the field news today, as various outlets are reporting that offensive lineman Alvin Bailey was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI) early on Monday morning.
The arrest came just a few hours after the team returned to Cleveland following a 30-24 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins to drop to 0-3.
Browns EVP of Football Operations Sahsi Brown put out the following statement about the matter.
Pro Football Talk had the following about the arrest:
The Royalton Post reported that Bailey admitted to drinking on the team plane and later at a business in the area.
Officers also found marijuana in the car, the report said, and in addition to failing sobriety tests and being arrested for OVI, Bailey was cited for failure to comply, drug abuse, drug paraphernalia, speed and driving an unsafe vehicle due to a cracked windshield. He’s due in court later this week.
Fox 8 in Cleveland had more details on the arrest:
Bailey was allegedly speeding on West 130th Street before making a turn into a nearby dog park. As he started to get out of his car, a police officer told him to get back inside, but Bailey refused. That’s when he admitted to drinking and was arrested for the OVI.
The four-year vet has appeared in all three games this season for the Browns, staring one.
