It sounds today like the Browns love affair with Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo still very much exists, as Tony Grossi of ESPN reports that Cleveland could make another run at Brady’s backup in New England.
It’s interesting news as it comes less than 24 hours after a report which stated that Brock Osweiler, who the Browns traded for on the first day of free agency, will be in the mix to compete for the starting job at quarterback.
It was thought that after the trade for Osweiler, the Browns were stockpiling picks in order to make a serious run at
Garoppolo, but it’s been quiet since then as the two parties have not come to a deal if there’s one to be had.
“An NFL source familiar with all the principals involved speculated the Browns ‘would make another run’ at Garoppolo at the league meetings,” Grossi wrote.
It seems like almost daily it’s been back and forth that Garoppolo would eventually end up with the Browns, one day he would be on his way, and the next the Patriots would be keeping him.
While there’s still plenty of time for the Patriots and Browns to make a deal, count Tony Grossi’s piece today as a mark that a deal could be coming.

Use next years picks on Garoppolo, not any of this years picks.
