The Cleveland Browns are currently leading the Minnesota Vikings 13-12 at halftime of their Week 8 clash in London, England. The Browns have had a lot of positives in this game and have their first halftime lead of the year.
Let’s look at the three takeaways from the first half.
1. Defense Runs The First Half- The Cleveland defense has been super impressive again this morning, as they have held the Vikings to just twelve points. The Browns have only allowed the Vikings into the red zone a couple of times, limiting their opportunities for game-changing plays. The Browns got on the board off of a tipped pass that led to an interception, shortly turning that into a touchdown off of a 26-yard Isaiah Crowell touchdown run. The defense is one of the best improvements from last year and today continues to show why that statement rings true.
2. Crowell Awakens- Everyone has been waiting on Isaiah Crowell to play like the player he did last year and today he has certainly shown signs of that. Crowell got the Browns on the board with a 26-yard rushing touchdown just four minutes into the game, running right through the Minnesota defense.
Unfortunately, Crowell has only received the ball six times and has only 37 rushing yards. Hue Jackson needs to feed the Crow some more come second half to really put a stamp on this game.
3. Kizer Playing With Poise- The main thing that Hue Jackson was unhappy about with DeShone Kizer was his inability to make a decision and make it quickly. Kizer would wait too long often times and as a result, turnovers would ensue. Today, that has not been the case.
Kizer has been efficient against a talented Minnesota defensive front, throwing for 101 yards on 8-12 passing. The young quarterback also has a rushing touchdown on the day, making this the best half of football he has played to this point.
