Another Sunday, another Cleveland Browns loss. The Cincinnati Bengals pounced on the Cleveland Browns, defeating them 31-7. The Browns fall to 0-4 on the season while the Bengals move to 1-3 on the season. For the second year in a row, the Browns find themselves 0-4 to start the season and fans are calling for a new head coach, new quarterback, new everything.
Here’s our three takeaways from the game:
1. Lack of talent – The Browns may have the youngest team for a second year in a row but they simply lack talent all around the field. Exclude players Duke Johnson, Joe Thomas, and a few others that I’m leaving out. The realization that this Browns team could be just as bad as last season is setting in for many Browns fans. Besides Duke Johnson, The Browns don’t have much talent on offense to help quarterback DeShone Kizer.
2. DeShone Kizer – This isn’t a secret, but Kizer simply has not played well enough. In only his fourth NFL game, the rookie took a step back today. Kizer went 16/34 with only 116 yards passing and an interception. The lack of talent around Kizer is part of the problem. But the rookie has also struggled with accuracy and being able to speed up his mind during a play. It’s going to be imperative for Kizer to show improvements throughout the rest of season or else the Browns could be left with no choice but to draft yet another quarterback next season.
3. Defense – There was a lot of hype for the defense coming into the season. That hype has since been silenced. For the Browns, they got torched once again on defense. Andy Dalton went 25/30 passing for 286 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. Dalton also had a near perfect passer rating.
Up next for the Browns, they will face the New York Jets at 1 pm on CBS. The Browns will continue to search for their first win on the season.
