Joe Haden took a step forward on Thursday in an effort to play Sunday in Washington against the Redskins, as the cornerback took part in the teams’ practice in Berea.
“He was out there running around today so we will see where he is this weekend, but I feel good about it, I really do,” Browns coach Hue Jackson said after practice Thursday.
“You know how these things go. I will get with our medical staff and see exactly where he is before we say one way or the other.”
Haden missed Sunday’s game in Miami against the Dolphins after he hurt his groin in practice on Thursday.
“Super frustrating,” Haden said of the groin injury.
“I was hoping to play every game this season. I was working my butt off to be out there with my guys. It’s super disappointing and upsetting because you want to be out there but you physically can’t.
“It’s very tough for me not to be out there with my guys and especially trying to be a leader for this team and knowing I have to make certain plays. It’s tough not to be out there.”
Haden’s injuries cost him most of last season, as he missed 11 of 16 games. He did play in the season opener at Philadelphia, and in week two at home against the Ravens, but was on the shelf last week.
If he can take the field on Friday for the team, the chances on him playing Sunday will rise greatly.
