Browns cornerback Joe Haden is returning from an ankle injury that sidelined him several games last season. He did return to practice this week but head coach Hue Jackson does not believe Haden is ready to play in the Thursday night preseason matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
#Browns Joe Haden (ankle) won’t play Thursday night against the Falcons. Hue will go slow w/him. Hope to have him play some this preseason

Jackson told the media:
No, that is not my plan right now. I’m going to go a really slow with him and just make sure he’s ready. Hopefully, at some time, we’ll play him before we get to the regular season. We have three more games left so we’ll find one that I think is suitable, along with our medical staff, that we think is best for him.
Taking it slow with one of your best defensive players is a great idea. If Haden is not 100% healthy and gets injured in a preseason game, every single fan will be upset with Jackson’s decision.
The Browns are looking to improve on their 3-13, 2015 record, in which the defense was in total disarray. Having Haden back this season and defensive coordinator Ray Horton, this team is looking to make a splash early and often.
