Browns CB Joe Haden Activated off the PUP List; Ready to Work His Way Back Onto the Field

While the big news from Browns camp on Monday may have been the ‘official’ announcement about RGIII being the teams’ new starter at quarterback, there was more news about a player who the team hopes to get back to form in 2016.

That player is Joe Haden, who hasn’t taken the field in a game since November 1st of last season during a setback at home to the Arizona Cardinals.

Monday Haden was activated off of the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, and from the sounds of it he’s ready to get back on the field to compete with his teammates for time back in the starting lineup.

Haden said Monday that while he’s going to likely ease his way back into action, the real date he’s looking forward to is that of September 11th when the Browns open the season at Philadelphia.

“September 11 is the only game I’m really worried about,” Haden said Monday. “If they let me get in into any preseason, that would be sweet, but my main goal is just getting back by September 11.”

2015 is a season that Haden will want to forget, as first he suffered a concussion in a Week 5 overtime win over Baltimore, this after he sat out a loss in San Diego with a broken finger.

When he did play against the Cardinals, he landed another concussion and that was it for his season.

It sounds now though like he’s ready to be a part of a defense that under Ray Horton is looking to make an impact in the tough AFC North. He knows that the team will make sure he’s healthy, and he said Monday he’s listening to what they have to say so he can be a part of this new look Browns team.

“I think they’re doing a really good job of just taking their time. I think a lot of it is precaution, just making sure that they know there is no rush right now to get back,” Haden said.

“I’m trying to get back as soon as possible, and whenever I’m ready at like full percent to be able to go, then they’ll put me back in there.”
